Thirsty Thursday: The Biltmore

On a wet, snowy New England night, I journeyed over to The Biltmore, an awesome pub in the Upper Falls region of Newton. Located at 1205 Chestnut Street, this place offers a cheerful neighborhood atmosphere with some great food (I can personally vouch for their burgers) and drink. The staff is friendly, and always makes sure the customers leave happy. In the spirit of Don Draper I decided to go with an Old Fashioned…

Muddle: A cherry, orange, sugar, and a dash of Angostura bitters.
Add: 2 oz of Bully Boy American Straight whiskey and a splash of club soda, add ice to glass.

When it’s cold and nasty outside there is truly nothing better than settling into a barstool at a place like The Biltmore with a well-made cocktail in hand, enjoying some good cheer and friendly service. Next time you find yourself in the Upper Falls region, be sure to get on over to The Biltmore and take a load off.

Until next time, Bully for you Boston!

Thirsty Thursday: Farmstead Table

This week I ventured over to Farmstead Table, located in Newton Centre at 71 Union St. Farmstead Table celebrates a Farm to Table philosophy and source many of their ingredients locally.  I didn’t get a chance to try their food, but while I was there I heard nothing but fantastic reviews from some of the regulars. Upon my arrival, I met the manager Penny, who went out of her way to make sure I had an enjoyable experience. Penny set me up at the bar and gave me the run down on their Bully Boy cocktails. I started out with the Farmstead Blood Orange Martini…

Farmstead Blood Orange Martini
2 oz Bully Boy Vodka
½ oz Fruitlab Organic Orange
½ oz DeKuyper Blood Orange liquer
Juice of one Blood Orange

Shake together with ice, strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a slice of Blood orange.

The ingredient combinations provided for rich and bold flavors- the juice of the blood orange comes through really nicely as well with the vodka.

After hearing Penny rave about the popularity of the Kumquat Mojito, I decided I had to taste this delectable delight.

Kumquat Mojito
Muddle:
-2 sliced kumquats
-simple syrup
-mint and lime
Add:
2 oz rum in shaker with ice- pour into mason jar, top off with club soda.

The kumquats provide a great citrusy burst to this classic mojito and combines well with the flavors in the rum

Major props to the bartender, Ashley, who served up two tasty concoctions and provided friendly and warm service. Nothing left to do but get on over to Farmstead Table and give your taste buds a treat!

Until next time, Bully for you Boston!

Thirsty Thursday: Abby Lane Food & Spirits

Hey folks, excited to be back in action again providing you with the inside scoop on where to find some great Bully Boy concoctions.

We started out the New Year by venturing over to Abby Lane Food and Spirits. Located in the heart of the theatre district, the casual and comfortable atmosphere combines with the upbeat and friendly staff to make for an overall fantastic experience. I wasn't able to try out their food, but I can assure you that it smelled scrumptious. I was however able to sample their impressive craft cocktail menu.

After meeting master mixologist, Jarek Mountain, he served me up a Saloon Keeper's Daughter. Below is the recipe…

1 1/2 oz Bully Boy White Whiskey
1/2 oz Amaro
1/2 oz Honey
1/4 oz lemon

Shake warm, fill with Iced Tea and serve

The White Whiskey provides a great balance with the sweetness of the honey and to top it off, the lemon provides a nice zesty kick.

After chatting with Jarek for a bit he mentioned that this is more of a summer cocktail, but it has still been very popular during the winter months. As New Englanders we are constantly looking for any excuse to escape the frigid weather and get into a summer state of mind, so head on over to Abby Lane Food and Spirits and grab yourself a Saloon Keeper's Daughter!

Until next time, Bully for You Boston!
